I am a Research Scientist at Meta working with Responsible AI. I received my PhD from University at Notre Dame, where I worked with Dr. Kevin W. Bowyer at the Computer Vision Research Lab (CVRL). My research includes responsible AI, computer vision, machine learning and biometrics. My PhD research focused on face recognition, where the main goal was to understand and improve the accuracy across different demographic groups in deep learning methods. My previous research at the IMAGO UFPR lab focused on detecting facial expressions using Action Units with varying head poses.
I spend my free time practicing team sports, snowboarding, skating and skateboarding. I like to play videogames, specially the ones with great stories. I am also an amateur drummer who likes to play songs from classic rock to metal.
